  • One thing I've always thought America was missing is more Castles.  We'll i now know that there is one within 100 miles from me...and it doubles as a Winery!  If you ever get the chance, head over to the Napa Valley and visit Castello di Amorosa.  Danielle and I stopped by this castle during a little Valentine's Day getaway weekend, and we were very impressed!  The castle cost about 30 million dollars to build and took 14 years to complete.  The structure is also true to typical castles from midevil europe, from the architecture, all the way down to the building material and construction.   The wine wasn't half bad either :) and its only available at the Castle...so get goin!

  • Finally, after 23 plus years, I got to witness Van Halen, live!  Not just any Van Halen either...the original, with the one and only David Lee Roth!  Sunday evening Danielle and I made the trip down to San Jose with her younger brother Adam and his good cronie Dan the Man.  Adam and Dan joined us by way of an incredible birthday gift from the good ol' sis.  cough* Kelsey *cough* take note *cough...sorry, allergies are killin me.
  • The concert itself was incredible, the way these guys performed, you would have never guessed their age.  Which according to Jay is approximately 100, with the exception of Eddie Van Halen's son, who played the bass.  Oh yeah, and D.L.R. can still do a pretty mean round house kick...not to mention bust out some pretty intense kung fu.
  • Oh yeah, I almost forgot, we were notified upon entrance to the concert that we would be going to hell.  A very kind, picketing gentleman was openly expressing his concerns for our welfare in front of HP Pavilion with his megaphone.  It was really quite touching.  This is not the first time I have seen this man, he has been known to picket on the quads of local colleges, including my alma mater.  Just in case you were wonder, he hates intolerance, and queers.  Naturally.  Despite his warnings, we still had a kick ass time "Running with the Devil".
  • Overall, great experience and all four of us had a blast, if you can still snag tickets to the Oakland show, I suggest you hop to it.
  • Cheers!

  • Excuse me, could you direct me to the nearest water closet?

Today's beef is with the approximately 800 Chinese citizens who were issued a new license plate that includes the letter combination "WC". Apparently this combination, as one Chinese gentleman put it, will make him a "laughing stock" among his friends. This is completely reasonable, and I agree with this man, and the other embarassed Chinese completely. It is unreasonable to be forced to drive a car that containts an abbriviation that suggests it's a driving water closet. How completely embarassing! I can't tell you how many time times I've come across a car with the abbriavtion WC and ridiculed the driver till I was blue in the face. That's what you get! Ha!

Now i know this doesn't exactly rival "WC", but what about the poor saps with a license plate containing the abbreviation "BJ". I won't go into what this abbreviation means, because obviously this site is family oriented, but my god, can you imagine the embarassment these drivers face! I'd venture to say I would quit driving forever.

My issues it the following...first, who has time to complain about this crap. In all honesty, if WC was in my license plate, I would be more likely to remember it, and I would probably enjoy the chuckle if anyone ever pointed it out. Second, this made the news in America. I've always thought it was kinda bogus that the only news we will read about from a foreign country has to be some insignificant piece of BS (oh that would be embarassing too!) that makes us laugh. We'll it did, good work Reuters, job well done.

Oh, and one little note to the Chinese, you live in a communist country, you are not allowed to be individuals...accept everything you get, even if its your own license plate...WC is the least of your worries.

  • I'm taking off to Baltimore (and by Baltimore i mean Hanover) Sunday morning for a business seminar. Unforunately, It doesn't look like i will be able to reach one of my east coast goals this trip...finding a White Castle. There isn't one in all of Maryland! If White Castle is sooo friggin good, why are they only in 11 states??

Cheers, see you all in a week!

  • Yah, so i made a website...why? Cause i can! Seriously, thats my only reason...that and i was bored at work. I also have a personal goal to use and abuse everything that Google offers...and guess what, they web host! As part of maintaining my own website about...well...myself, i figured it would be necessary to keep a blog, and let you in on a few of my thoughts. Of which there aren't many, so don't get too excited. For instance, today...there are not many, and I will be leaving you all without even the slightest thought provoking or interesting piece of blogging literature. However, I would like to take this opporunity to invite other members of KyleSeverns.com to submit their own blogs to be posted on my website. What's mine is yours...if you are a member...suckers! Check back for updates...but don't expect any. This guy will be in Baltimore all next week...learning more than anyone should ever know about concrete formwork.
  • For now its back to work...I have to engineer stuff.
  • Keep on Keepin on!
